2018 Mazda CX-5 New Features

The 2018 Mazda CX-5 is fitted with a 187-hp, 2.5-liter SKYACTIV-G four-cylinder engine. The newly-revised engine features cylinder-deactivation technology that will offer drivers improved fuel economy. Cylinder deactivation works by shutting down two of the engine’s cylinders while cruising. The EPA ratings have yet to be released, but considering the new fuel-saving cylinder deactivation technology, this year’s model’s efficiency should improve the previous model year’s already impressive 31 highway miles per gallon (29 highway mpg with AWD).

The 2018 Mazda CX-5 will offer Sport, Touring and Grand Touring trim levels. The Grand Select model will no longer be available. Mazda has also announced plans for a diesel powertrain option for the 2018 CX-5.

There are a host of new features across all trims levels that are now being offered as standard equipment, including a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, LED headlights, dual-zone climate control, passive entry system, blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist. The i-Activsense safety technology features are now standard on the Touring trim level. The updated design epitomizes the Mazda principle of “Kodo,” or “soul of motion.”
