Subcompact Crossover With the Best Gas Mileage
With gas prices remaining at high prices for seemingly forever, and with an emphasis on doing what is right for our planet, fuel economy is as important as ever when it comes to buying a new vehicle. Some of the latest models from Mazda have impressed particularly in this area, with one of the latest fuel economy figures being release for the 2016 Mazda CX-3 subcompact crossover utility vehicle. So, which is the subcompact crossover with the best gas mileage?
According to Mazda, the current class-leader in fuel economy is the 2016 Mazda CX-3. The model, set to release later this year, boasts up to 29 city and 35 highway mpg. These figures set it at the top of the list for 2015 and 2016 subcompact crossover utility vehicles, in which Mazda included the 2015 Mini Cooper Countryman/Paceman, 2015 Chevrolet Trax, 2015 Buick Encore, 2015 Nissan Juke, 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport, 2016 Honda HR-V, 2016 Jeep Renegade and 2016 Fiat 500X all with the entry-level engines paired with automatic transmission.
Even with Mazda’s i-ACTIV AWD system, the fuel economy ratings suffer little, coming out to 27 city and 32 highway mpg. The vehicle comes equipped with a 2.0-liter SKYACTIV engine that is capable of producing up to 146 horsepower and 146 lb.-ft. of torque. SKYACTIV technology has had a lot to do with the impressive fuel economy ratings in other models as well, such as the 2015 Mazda 3, 2016 Mazda 6 and 2016 Mazda CX-5.
For now, Mazda has stated that the current subcompact crossover with the best gas mileage is set to go on sale in the late summer of 2015. Hopefully, we won’t have to wait long to get behind the wheel. Be sure to continue checking back to the Mazda of Lodi blog for future updates and news.
