Top Full-Size CUV at 2016 Texas Truck Rodeo
Although the 2016 Mazda CX-9 hasn’t even been on the market that long, it’s already winning awards. The latest recognition comes from the Texas Auto Writers Association, who named the 2016 Mazda CX-9 the top full-size CUV at the 26th annual Texas Truck Rodeo.

More than 70 vehicles were put to the test and judged, before earning a place in 17 competitive categories. The 2016 Mazda CX-9 took home top honors in the full-size CUV category for numerous reasons.
For one, its exterior styling stood out, as did the premium feeling in the interior. The capabilities of Mazda’s new SKYACTIV®-G 2.5T engine also stood out. The engine provides the CX-9 with up to 250 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. Despite this, the SUV is still capable of achieving up to an estimated 28 mpg highway.
On top of that, the 2016 Mazda CX-9 was impressive enough that it took the runner-up spot for the overall CUV of Texas award. That’s certainly something to be proud of.
Nominees for 2017 World Car of the Year
The accolades for the CX-9 don’t stop there, though. Recently, the all-new midsize SUV was named to the shortlist of nominees competing to be named the 2017 World Car of the Year.
If you Mazda news, you may remember that last year, the newly redesigned 2017 Mazda MX-5 Miata was named the World Car of the Year. It also received the World Car Design of the Year award, and if you ask us, the 2016 CX-9 looks just as good.
