One of those features, Bluetooth connectivity, helps you stay connected to the outside world while on the road. This includes the ability to send and receive text messages through the Mazda Connect system, so read on to learn how to send a text message using Mazda Connect.

The first thing you need to do is make sure your smartphone is paired to the vehicle. If it is not, click the link below and refer to our guide for syncing a phone to the Mazda Connect infotainment system.

How to Pair a Phone to Mazda Connect Bluetooth

Now that your phone is connected to the vehicle, it’s time to start taking advantage of the Mazda Connect features.

Receiving a text through Mazda Connect

With the phone and vehicle audio system on, you can have up to 20 messages downloaded from your smartphone at one time. This should take place automatically if the “Auto Download Text” function is selected in your settings menu.

By selecting the “Communication” button on the Mazda Connect home screen, you can access your text message inbox. In addition, if the “SMS Notification” function is turned on, you will also receive alerts when an incoming message is received. Select “Read” to display the message. While the vehicle is moving, the system will only read out the message to you, but when parked you can also read the message yourself.

How to Reply to a Text Message on Mazda Connect

You can reply to a message by selecting the “Reply” button. You can then select from a list of preset messages to send. If necessary, these can be edited by going to “Settings” and then selecting “Preset Messages.” Select the message you want to edit and then use the keyboard to type your message.

Now that you know how to send a text message using Mazda Connect, it should be noted that the system should only be used when it is able to do so safely. You should follow traffic laws at all times, and it is recommended you refrain from using the system while driving.
